As an English major, I love literature, so I thought I would go over some books I've been forced to read, that I actually enjoyed and believe should be read:
The Awakening (By far one of my favorite books of all time, not even kidding, it was such a good book)
To Kill A Mockingbird (amazing story)
Pride and Prejudice (and pretty much any Jane Austen)
Othello (favorite Shakespeare I've read so far, it was just good)
A Separate Peace (depressing, but just a good book)
The Great Gatsby (I hated this book the first time, but I love it now, the symbolism is awesome
Les. Mis (well not required in a class, since I still haven't finished it yet, but it's well written)
The Bell Jar (it's an insight into what suffering from depression is like, people should understand what that's like)
"Hills Like White Elephants" (Such a good short story)
The Sun Also Rises (I actually like Hemingway's style, just putting in what's important, it makes the story a lot more loaded)
The Picture of Dorian Gray (Oscar Wilde = one good writer, I love his style.
and probably more I just can't think of right now. Those are just some of my favorites that are currently in the TSC bookstore right now, that are severely tempting me.
